Are you tired of being told that there is only one way to act?

Do you believe that actors need to develop their own unique approach to the craft?

As an acting coach and an actor myself, I have come to the realisation that there is not a single technique in acting that works for everyone. We are all unique individuals with our own set of skills, experiences, and perspectives.

Therefore, it only makes sense that we need to develop our own approach to the craft.

Traditional acting techniques can be limiting for actors, as they often require us to conform to a set of rules and guidelines that may not work for everyone.

However, when we make a brave and conscious decision to discover and build our own technique, we have the freedom to experiment, explore, and express ourselves in ways that are true to who we are as individuals. This is the key to unlocking our unique human essence and discovering our own way into acting.

Some of the most successful actors in history have developed their own unique approaches to acting. Marlon Brando was known for his improvisational style, while Meryl Streep is another example of an actor who developed her own unique approach to acting, which blends various techniques and methods to suit her personal process. By developing their own approaches, these actors were able to create unforgettable performances that stood the test of time.

If you're ready to pursue finding your own approach to acting, here are some steps to take:

  1. Study a variety of techniques and methods to get a sense of what works for you.

  2. Experiment with different approaches and techniques to find what feels natural and authentic to you.

  3. Be open to feedback from directors, coaches, and fellow actors, but also trust your own instincts.

  4. Continuously refine and evolve your technique over time as you gain more experience and insight.

  5. Work on deconditioning yourself and bring awareness to and release your acting habits. It's important to keep letting go of old ways.

  6. As I always say in our sessions, be in a constant dialogue with your discoveries and be in a constant dialogue with your coach. At Physical Lab, we believe there is not a specific technique. Instead, there is a dialogue that we create with you in order to help you discover and see what works for you.

By creating your own approach to acting, you will not only stand out from the crowd, but you will also be able to express yourself in a way that is true to who you are. So go out there and start creating your own technique today!

Remember to stay present, stay grounded, and let yourself be you (at your maximum capacity)!
