What Is Presence And What Is Its Purpose?

PRESENCE IS:

  • TO BE AWARE OF THE SELF IN THE PRESENT MOMENT.
  • TO BE AWARE OF OUR THOUGHTS.
  • TO BE AWARE OF OUR FEELINGS AS THEY ARISE.
  • TO BE AWARE OF OUR INSTINCTUAL CALLINGS.
  • TO BE AWARE OF OUR PATTERNS—THE WAY WE REACT, THINK, MOVE, AND SPEAK.
  • TO BE AWARE OF THESE PATTERNS WITH THE INTENTION OF KNOWING THYSELF.
  • TO BE AWARE OF OUR PHYSICAL BODY AND TO CONSCIOUSLY CHOOSE TO INHABIT IT FULLY.
  • TO TRULY LISTEN TO ONE ANOTHER. AND TO TRULY DO THIS, IT IS NECESSARY TO KNOW THYSELF.

When I am listening to you, it is extremely important that I also listen to myself listening to you—to observe my own receiving of you. Why? Because I want to ensure an objective listening, rather than a one-dimensional listening filtered through my conditioning, reflexes, assumptions, or current mood. In this way, I am able to hear what you are saying as objectively as possible and process it with full consciousness.

To know thyself is to begin a journey of inquiry and analysis—a process of observing and understanding how and why we react in certain circumstances, and then taking ownership of those reactions. It is about developing the capacity to respond consciously rather than automatically.

This leads us to become aware of the observer within us—our natural presence. The goal is personal and professional freedom; in other words, a conscious adult life rooted in purpose. Your meaningful purpose. Your effortless offering. The cultivation of the observer and inner dialogue leads to trust in the self. And this is the key to making our dreams come true. On all levels.
To explain further: we are all conditioned by culture, education, politics, family, friendships, and traumatic experiences. Some of this conditioning serves us. Some of it restricts us from truly connecting with our heartfelt desires and life’s deepest fantasies, let alone manifesting them.

Becoming aware of, understanding, and resolving aspects of our conditioning — particularly the restrictive learnings we have accumulated — is essential. It is a gateway into our innate talents, authentic desires, and genuine aspirations.

THE PRACTICE OF SELF-AWARENESS IS, IN ESSENCE, AN ONGOING DIALOGUE WITH THE SELF.

A dialogue that exists within the inner space of consciousness where thoughts, feelings, instincts, and conditioning reside.
At its core, the purpose of practicing “Know Thyself” is the intention to become your own best friend and your own parent, so that you may navigate life—with all the joy and chaos it brings—with the greatest possible skill.

We cannot control life, but we can control how we respond to it. We can choose how we utilise every experience in order to manifest our dreams, maximise our talents, and cultivate a healthy life from the inside out.

This inquiry leads to a less reactive way of living. A reactive life is often rooted in limiting mindsets and emotional impulsivity. In reality, it reflects a lack of genuine care for the situation, for oneself, and for the people involved. It rarely contributes to resolution or meaningful solutions. Instead, it often becomes an exhausting recycling of drama.

The alternative is a life filled with conscious choices, solution-based action, and the ability to draw upon both our accumulated wisdom and our innate talents. In one word: freedom.

FREEDOM IS A HUMAN BEING’S BIRTHRIGHT AND ONE OF THE ESSENTIAL KEYS TO THRIVING IN DAILY LIFE.

These are some of the intentions behind the practice of presence. It is an invitation to observe the self, to be with the self, and to allow the self to unfold constructively. It is an invitation to live in partnership with yourself—to cultivate a life of freedom, purpose, and the embodiment of your true talents and qualities.

None of the above are separate tasks. They are all aspects of the same practice. Once this is deeply understood, it becomes clear that everything described here is embodied through one ongoing exercise—one practice that we continue to revisit, deepen, and refine through countless repetitions.
