PROFILE
Yorgos is an actor, performer, director and an acting coach. Born in Athens, he studied acting at the Nellie Karra school of drama, and in 2001 he moved to the UK, where he trained with Philip Gaulier as well as at the Hope Street physical theatre programme. In 2002, he formed Tmesis Theatre company with Elinor Randle, and together they created and toured productions nationally and internationally for a decade.
Since 2011 he has been acting, directing, and coaching independently in the UK and internationally, and he created Physical Lab, a laboratory for acting and performance, which runs globally.

Since moving to the UK, Yorgos performed nationally and internationally leading parts for the following productions of Tmesis Theatre: Tmesis, Memento Mori, Anima, and The Dreadful Hours.

He performed in two developmental stages of Fin Walker's adaptation of William Shakespeare's Macbeth, which was presented at London's National Theatre studios and at the Barbican Arts Centre.

He had the lead in the theatre production Home, an original play based on Euripide's Medea, which was performed in London and Liverpool.

He starred in the Greek TV series I Lexi Pou Den Les, directed by Thodoris Papadoulakis.

He played the role of communist Nikos Mariakakis in the feature The Last Note, a period film directed by Padelis Voulgaris, which won several film awards in Greece and the US.

He appeared in Lorca's Blood Wedding in London, adapted and directed by George Richmond Scott (Associate Director of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), with the part of the Father and The Moon.

He starred in the site specific production The Dream with Vivid Street Theatre in Crete, Greece.

He had the leading part at the site specific production West Walls, embodying the part of a traveler of the subconscious mind.

Yorgos has taken part in several rehearsed readings directed by Paul Anthony Morris, which included: As Long As We Die In An Orderly Way, Invisible, Rearranging The Furniture, and Sixty-Four Shots, which took place at the Young Vic Theatre.

2012 Wolf Red

Yorgos directed Wolf Red, a Tmesis Theatre solo production starring Elinor Randle, which toured nationally in the UK and was also performed in NYC.
2013 Antigone/Twin Peaks

A collaboration with British writer Chris Fittock, and an exploration of a script based on Sophocles's Antigone and David Lynch's Twin Peaks. The performances were presented in London as part of Physical Lab performances.
2014 Medea

Physical Lab engaged with an international ensemble of actors, and explored elements from Euripides's Medea. The outcome was a durational improvisational performance presented in London.

2017 Macbeth

A site specific production based on William Shakespeare's Macbeth, with an international ensemble of actors, part of Physical Lab performances. It was presented at the Carob Mill Arts Centre in Crete.
2018 The Dream

A commission of Vivid Street theatre and the city of Chania, Crete. The Dream is a devised, site-specific production and it took place at ten locations at the old port of Chania in Crete, Greece.

Julius Caesar

A site specific production based on William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar with an international ensemble of actors, part of Physical Lab performances.

Yorgos coached and offered directorial input to Brownyn Reed and Michael Sutherland for their stage production of And All In War With Time For Love Of You for the Broad Stage in Los Angeles.
West Walls

A commission of Vivid Street theatre and the city of Chania, Crete. West Walls is a site specific production based on an original idea of a traveler lost in the subconscious mind. Yorgos will be developing this project in the next couple of years both as a theatre and film production. West Walls (Stage 1) was a collaboration with Vivid Street Theatre and Physical Lab.
COACH
Yorgos has coached & directed actors throughout Europe and the US, both at the helm of a production and also working privately with them to assist with their scenes and character development.
He has taught and directed at LAMDA, RADA, Drama Centre London, Williams College (USA), PACE University in NYC and more.
In 2011 he created Physical Lab, the London based laboratory for acting and performance, that runs in Europe, and under invitation in the US. In the nine years of its life, the Lab has created a large community of actors that have been following faithfully workshops and residencies all around the globe.
Yorgos believes that each actor needs to understand and thrive with their very own method, so the work is a one to one facilitation to identify each person's individual technique and charisma.
He continues to offer weekend-long Labs internationally, as well as a longer residencies once a year. In addition, he is also available for hire to work with actors on a one-to-one basis.
